Happy Father’s Day

Today we reject the new-age ideals of effeminacy, promiscuity and single-parent families, along with the horrific practice of placing children with same-sex couples.

A father stands up for what’s right, protects what’s his, and has the scars to prove it.

The stallion below, who runs one of the bands on the Virginia Range, doesn’t keep his harem of mares because he’s a nice guy, he keeps them because he’s a badass.  Photo taken 06/15/18.

Horses Attract Bullies

Personnel with the Salt River Wild Horse Management Group held a press conference recently to review their plans for the Salt River horses.  A birth control program was included, of course, with the goal of reducing population growth.

If anything positive can be said about it, at least it’s not aimed at zero population growth or negative population growth.

The contraceptive-of-choice will likely be PZP, administered by CO2-powered rifles.  Or maybe they’re using compressed air nowadays because of global warming.

SRWHMG_Darting-1

The wild horse haters are almost certainly pleased with the development, as this so-called advocacy group works diligently to advance their agenda of fewer horses on western rangelands.

In the 12/12/17 Nevada Board of Agriculture meeting, where a decision was made to transfer ownership of the Virginia Range horses to a private advocacy group, comments were made about the side-effects of PZP (beginning at 2:32:00 in the video).

  • Barren mares stealing foals which die because the mares have no milk
  • Abscesses at the injection area
  • Pregnant mares aborting their foals after darting
  • Fertility cycles changed

Why don’t we ever hear about these things?

The speaker was shouted down by individuals who are so lost in their sins (the contraceptive mindset) that they can’t even conceive of other pro-life methods for managing the horses.

Best Way to Help the Poor

An opinion piece in The Daily Sentinel, published 06/10/18, addresses the problem of wild horses in long-term holding, which costs the American taxpayer $50 million annually.

Sell them for ‘humane processing,’ as we do with millions of other companion animals such as cattle, hogs and chickens.

Fantastic idea.  Gathers would be renamed ‘harvests,’ and poor people around the world would be able to buy meat at reasonable prices.

And speaking of slaughter, don’t forget the $500 million spent each year by the federal government to aid in the murder of pre-born kids.  This, of course, saves billions in entitlement spending.

In 1939, Archie D. Ryan of the US Grazing Service (forerunner of the BLM) said “The wild horse consumes forage needed by domestic livestock.  They bring in no return and serve no useful purpose.”

Nothing has changed.  Today, that statement provides the axiomatic basis of the wild horse narrative.  The same way ‘The speed of light is constant’ gets the ball rolling in Special Relativity.

Polls indicate that roughly 80% of Americans want these animals protected and preserved.

But the number of HMAs has been on a decline for years, along with the size thereof.

  • Give back the land that has been taken from wild horses and burros
  • Expand HMAs to include HAs
  • Remove livestock from these rangelands
  • Admit the carrying capacity of the land is greater than publicly acknowledged
  • Adjust AMLs accordingly
  • Make more land available for private ownership
  • Waive property taxes on barns, fences and corrals built for WHB adoption
  • Omit sales taxes on feed and supplies
  • Prohibit the use of PZP on HMAs

My friends, the only problem these animals have is you.  Same for the poor folks.

They don’t need to be served, they need to be able to labor and produce, and provide for themselves.  But that’s not going to happen because it’s bad for business.  As the author states, government bureaucrats want more power, more money, more staff.  Closing departments, selling buildings and laying people off—because problems have been solved—are the last things on their minds.

Not Capable of Sin

Read these comments from Mustang Maddy, posted 07/13/17 on her FB page.

We see in wild horses what we wish we could see in ourselves—to be blameless before God, to die in a state of grace and be received into the Beatific Vision for all eternity.

On the other hand, you have unrepentant mortal sinners, who will not survive their particular judgment, to join the ranks of the damned forever.

(There’s much more to it than that and nobody explains it better than Ann Barnhardt.)

Another Reason to Build the Wall

In this video, posted 05/25/18, Tucker Carlson, Fox News host, interviews Dave Duquette, spokesman for Protect the Harvest and cheerleader for the buck-forty-oners.  Topic is horse slaughter.  Broadcast date unknown.  Notice the AQHA logo on Duquette’s jacket.

On the subject of horse meat, Duquette reported “There was one meat buyer…in the south of…in Florida…that said he had 2.3 million Hispanics down there that would eat it…every day if they could get it.”

A few moments later he said “Mexico, if you’ve eaten tacos on the beach in Cabo, you’ve eaten some horse meat.”

Maybe he’s on a public relations tour to build support for the recent BLM Report to Congress.

But his comments are a reminder that we have people coming into the country who don’t share our values, especially the sovereignty of the individual and the proper role of government in the civil society.  We need to keep them out.

Yet in November, many of the so-called wild horse advocates, including the PZP zealots, will join The Diversity in voting for the party of open borders.

As hard as it is to listen to this guy, it’s harder to watch the images of horses that begin at 1:08.

Halters in arenas and pastures, horses locked in stalls, stud chains over their nose, all because they’re owned or cared for by idiots.  Nevertheless, these things indicate the horses are wanted and are unlikely to be taken to auction.

Gotta Love It

Wreck is on westbound I-80 near Fairfield, CA, but traffic is backed up for miles in the opposite direction.  Three or four lanes across.  Bad day for horse watching in Nevada, at least if you live in the Bay Area.

I-80-Wreck-05-26-18-1

Don’t worry though, all that wasted fuel means extra $$$ for state and federal coffers.

FYI – NRA

The NRA, not known for its unwavering support of the Second Amendment, is a member of the steering committee of the National Wild Horse and Burro Rangeland Management Coalition.

NHBRMC_Steering_Committee-1

The aim of the NWHBRMC is to articulate the wild horse narrative.  They are not friends of the horses.  Their fingerprints are on the recent BLM Report to Congress (by way of the National Wild Horse and Burro Summit).

So now you have another reason to avoid the NRA.  They’re not on the side of freedom, ruggedness and self-reliance, but are aligned with weakness, vulnerability and dependence on government.

UPDATE: See this piece in The Washington Times about the incoming president of the NRA and this post in the Captain’s Journal about said incoming president.  H/T Western Rifle Shooters Association.

More on the WHB Narrative

An opinion piece in The Ely Times dated 05/04/18 yields three more components of the wild horse narrative.

ElyNews-Narrative-1

A fourth element, mentioned last week, is they were turned loose or escaped from ranches and therefore have no special significance.

Note that the ranchers—bless their hearts—have reduced grazing on public lands to accommodate our poor horses and burros.  Just like the welfare recipients who voluntarily give up some of their government benefits after being told how those programs are driving the country into debt.

The WHB Act of 1971 did not include a provision for unrestricted sale of unadoptable animals.

ElyNews_Sale_Authority-1

That feature was added in 2004.

Do you really think the government would close departments, sell buildings and lay people off if wild horse and burro populations were reduced to their AMLs and there were no more animals in long-term holding?  Do you think the proposed measures would actually lead to a reduction in government spending?  Good grief.  Not as long as liberals are in charge.

The narrative is not about saving money.  It’s about getting the horses and burros off public lands and the ideas they represent out of the public’s mind.
