The Path Forward: They Hated It Before They Loved It

The Campaign Against America’s Wild Horses, a leader in mass sterilization and fierce opponent of principal use, has flip-flopped on the issue.

Consider this archived Q&A from 2019 in which they described the plan as dangerous.

Today, they like it.

At last week’s WHBAB meeting, the executive director told the Board that she embraces it, an overture to the ranchers and ranching sympathizers sitting thereon.

The goal was—and still is—ranching superiority in the lawful homes of wild horses, sometimes referred to as achieving and maintaining AMLs.

Status of Virginia Range Sterilization Program?

The Campaign Against America’s Wild Horses, a leader in nonmotorized removal, supporter of the Path Forward and fierce opponent of principal use, has not posted reports for October, November and December to its Virginia Range darting page.

These frauds want more transparency during roundups, such as cameras on helicopters, but don’t want you looking over their shoulder as they destroy entire herds.

AMLs Not Artificially Low?

If the bureaucrats assign forage to livestock in areas identified for wild horses, the AMLs are artificially low.

They represent the number of horses allowed by plan, not the number of horses the land can support.

For example, the Little Colorado HMA supports livestock equivalent to 3,750 wild horses and has an AML of 100.  It could go as high as 3,850.

The AML is artificially low, carefully chosen to protect ranching interests, not wild horses.

Proponents of animal agriculture want you to think that AMLs represent a physical limit, such as the speed of light, not an administrative limit.

This line of thinking drives the roundups and darting programs.

Batman Saves Robin from Wild Horse Advocates

He could have sent the boy to a Betty Ford clinic or similar institution, where he would be deprogrammed, cured of his obsession with pesticides and educated in intellectual honesty, but this is faster and more effective.

How Did Mustang Monument Rate as a Wild Horse Refuge?

The plan was to convert the Spruce Allotment to a wild horse eco-sanctuary with a capacity of 900 animals.

The base property consisted of approximately 14,000 deeded acres with grazing preference on over 500,000 public acres.

The facility included public lands, would displace livestock therefrom and had a land ratio of roughly 36 public acres for every deeded acre.

The downside was that it overlapped three HMAs, resulting in the loss of up to three breeding populations, which is unacceptable.

The resort offered high-end guest accommodations, fine dining and other amenities, which are not necessary for a wild horse refuge.

A diploma from the Billings School of PZP Darting and Public Deception won’t protect you from criminal investigation.

Fortunately, those who would look into the matter want the horses gone as much as those pulling the trigger, so there’s not much to worry about.

BLM to Launch Wild Horse Annie Donations Website?

The program would allow individuals to donate up to $249 per year to support the protection and management of wild horses and burros on public lands according to the Off-Range Report for the January 7 WHBAB meeting.

The report does not acknowledge that the land can support many more animals than the government admits and that the wild horse and burro program has become a grazing program ancillary.

Thriving Ecological Balance-3

Foal-Free Friday, R.I.P. Edition

The 118th Congress has termed out and with it two bills that threatened wild horses.

  • HR 3656 – The Wild Horse and Burro Sterilization Act
  • HR 726 – The Veterans for Pesticides Act

Tell your elected representatives you want wild horses managed the way Velma and the 92nd Congress intended, not the way the advocates and their political allies envision.

Reiterating: Sanctuaries Are Not the Answer

In general, they represent victory for the ranchers and failure for the horses, which is why the advocates like them.

There is a special case, however, where they should be considered: The deeded acreage has preference on one or more grazing allotments.

These properties give you more value for your investment.

Each private acre should control three or more public acres.

They should not overlap areas identified for wild horses.

If they don’t displace livestock from public lands, they’re not worthy of your support.

That puts them in the Buckeye Allotment.

The seller, who will pay her commission, holds most of the active AUMs therein.

Let’s take a look at some of the higher-dollar listings in her inventory.

At a 3% commission, she will collect around $129,000 from the seller, who holds most of the active AUMs in the Buckeye Allotment.

Would that explain her involvement in the “strong birth control program?”

The Fish Springs herd roams in the Pine Nut Mountains HA, an area zeroed out for wild horses but not for livestock.

The bogus land trust operated by the Campaign Against America’s Wild Horses, with whom she affiliates, overlaps the Buckeye and Pine Nut Allotments, another area zeroed out for wild horses but not for livestock.

CAAWH Seeks Virginia Range Volunteer Coordinator?

The announcement does not indicate if it’s a new role or an existing one vacated by someone who finally came to her senses.

The successful candidate will

  • Recruit volunteers for the mass sterilization program
  • Foster relationships with businesses and landowners
  • Become a certified PZP darter
  • Manage inventory and order supplies for volunteers
  • Educate the public about nonmotorized removal

You need strong organizational and people skills, an ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and a bachelor’s degree.

Salary not specified.

You need not be aborting/contracepting/sterilizing in your own life but that would definitely be a plus.

Foal-Free Friday, Women Fleecing Women Edition

Most wild horse advocacy groups are run by women.

Most of their supporters are women.

The women on the inside are evil.

The women on the outside are stupid.

The women on the inside try to convince the women on the outside that they care about wild horses and that the outsiders should give the insiders more money.

See for example the running record of news flashes from the Campaign Against America’s Wild Horses published by Lucky Three Ranch.

The insiders use the funds to buy pesticides while telling the outsiders they should feel good about themselves for supporting a worthy cause.

The outsiders don’t realize they’ve been swindled and that the insiders are colluding with the bureaucrats and ranchers to get rid of the horses.

Colorado Wild Horse Working Group Releases Year One Report

Management Model 12-26-24

The only thing missing is a feedback loop that tests for rancher satisfaction.

The article said the group has asked for better data from the federal government.

Of critical use would be the forage allocations for horses and livestock.

The group has discussed creating a state-run sanctuary, where the public could see horses that had been removed from the wild, but the topic has stalled in recent months due to the high cost of purchasing land.

If the search is limited to base properties—private acreage tied to grazing allotments on public lands—the group could get more value for its investment, a technique known as leverage.

Look for properties where the deeded acreage gives access to at least three times as much public acreage.

Then flip the preference to horses.

Like the forage allocations, ranchers and ranching sympathizers on the committee would probably oppose this line of pursuit.

That’s how you know it’s the right thing to do.
