The horse became separated from its mom and followed the group for several hours, when it was taken aboard their boat and removed from its habitat, according to a report posted today by The Outer Banks Voice.
The visitors were cited for their actions, presumably by the Park Service.
There are no roads connecting the island to the mainland.
